HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2020

Image
For my birthday, this year I went with Major and Patience back to Rhino Camp for 3 nights of enjoying animals.   Major and Patience tried to fish but did not get much luck after promising bream to eat for my birthday.  Major caught a large Vundu but it is on the endangered list so he had to throw it back!  He was so disappointed. We enjoyed our time away and it was relaxing and incredibly beautiful.   They cooked me fish for one  dinner since Major did not catch one and a birthday cake!   Nice way to celebrate #66! We came back on Monday evening and by Thursday we were on our way to Harare as my stomach pain was getting no better.   I was referred to a new GI doctor who felt I was probably resistant to the antibiotics for H. Pyloria I was taking.   He changed drugs and I will take them for 2 weeks and see him after 4 weeks.   If I get worse, I may need another endoscopy to see if my ulcer is better and more biopsies.   So far not much change in 10 days.   We are praying for the b

On the 25th of August I went back to see the surgeon about my ulcers.  After 9 weeks of treatment for ulcers I wasn't getting any better and was tired of being sick!  He did a colonoscopy and another gastroscopy.  More biopsies taken and no malignancies but this time it showed massive amounts of h. Pyloria, and infection in my stomach common in developing countries, and causes ulcers, so I was on the wrong treatment for 9 weeks. I started on a 14 day treatment program of antibiotics on the 28th of August and it seems a bit better.  Hopefully this will put an end to the ulcers and erosion in my stomach.  I have good and bad days but am praying this will end it! On the 2nd of September, Patience and Major and I took off for a short vacation to celebrate their 28th wedding anniversary. We spent the night of the 2nd in Harare and were able to have dinner with Dr. Shield and Mrs. No Kajese and their daughters Zoey and Alexis.  We had a great visit and kept our social distancing!  We bro

Batanai Farm

We spent the holiday weekend of August 8-11 at Major’s farm at Batanai.   Located 25 kms and 45 minutes of terrible road away from Chidamoyo, we went to enjoy our 2-day holiday of Hero’s and Defense Day and the weekend.   These are our last holidays before December. We enjoyed the quiet of the bush and Major and his workers and Patience were busy working in their field harvesting sweet potatoes and planting potatoes. I spent the time reading, watching Netflix on my iPad and napping!   Patience cooked and brought me tea and porridge every morning when I got up.   What a life! It was very cool as winter is still here and was down to low 60’s at night and early morning.   I usually took my bucket bath about 11 am after it warmed up a bit! I went to the field one day and watched as they worked and watered.   I laid in the sun on a cot and read.   That is why I like farming so much! Ha! On Tuesday evening we came back to get ready to go to work on Wednesday and the rest of the w

Enjoyable time away at Rhino Camp

On Monday the 27th of July, Major and Patience and I left Chidamoyo for 4 days at Rhino Camp.  Its a 4 hour drive to Kariba and then a 1 hour boat drive down to Rhino Camp.  We arrived to large groups of hippo all around and some elephants munching the grass. Major and Patience went fishing twice a day and I went out on a game ride once each evening.  In the morning I enjoyed just sitting in the sun and reading my book while elephants walked by in front of me, munching grass. It was a wonderful and relaxing time.  Just a good time to get away and enjoy a change of scenery during Covid. Fishing wasn't that good for Major and Patience but they caught enough for all of us at camp to have fresh fried Bream for our last dinner there.  Major doesn't eat fish but the rest of it loved it! We returned home on Thursday afternoon.  Zimbabwe had started a very strict lockdown again due to Covid.  Now people have to have a letter from work to travel or otherwise stay at home. You must wear
